What's in a Michigan gift basket

A good Michigan gift basket is built from brands people here grew up with, not generic gourmet filler. These are the ones we pack, and where they come from.

• Better Made potato chips. Made on Gratiot Avenue in Detroit since 1930. The bag on the table at every graduation party in Metro Detroit.
• Faygo Rock & Rye. Faygo has bottled pop in Detroit since 1907. Rock & Rye is the flavor locals ask for by name. It tastes like cherry cream soda.
• Vernors. Detroit's ginger ale. Poured over vanilla ice cream, it's a Boston Cooler.
• Germack nuts and dried cherries. Roasted in Eastern Market since 1924. We pack the dried Michigan tart cherries and the cherry and praline mix.
• Devon's Mackinac Island fudge. The souvenir every up-north trip ended with, in a 5.5 oz slab.
• Koeze Cream-Nut peanut butter. Grand Rapids, since 1910. Peanuts and salt, nothing else.
• Guernsey's hot fudge and caramel. From the Northville dairy that has served sundaes since 1940.
• Sanders hot fudge. Sanders opened its first Detroit shop in 1875. The milk chocolate hot fudge is the one in the jar.
• Kar's Sweet 'N Salty. The Metro Detroit trail mix in every glove box.
• Pop Daddy pretzels. Dill pickle pretzel sticks made in Michigan.
• Red Pelican mustard and Leo's Greek dressing. The Detroit condiment and the coney island salad dressing, both bottled for home.

How a box gets packed and shipped

Each box is a navy magnetic gift box with a white satin ribbon, packed by hand at 2200 Hunt St in Detroit. Jars and bottles get wrapped, cans go in upright, and the card goes on top. We print no prices inside the box. Orders ship within 2 business days by USPS or UPS ground, tracked, and most US addresses see them in 1 to 6 business days after that. Canadian orders ship tracked and usually arrive in 4 to 7 business days; the carrier may collect duties at the door. Local pickup in Detroit is free, by appointment.

For Christmas 2026, order by Friday, December 11 for US ground, Tuesday, December 15 for Priority, Thursday, December 17 for Express, and Wednesday, December 9 for Canada.

Sending to someone else

Most of our boxes go to someone other than the buyer. At checkout, enter their address, or choose "text or email them" and put your own address in. We'll reach out to them within one business day, get the address, and ship it there. The receipt comes to you. They never see a price.

Questions people ask

Can you ship a Michigan gift box to Canada? Yes. Every box except The Michigan Kitchen Box ships to Canada, tracked, for $39.95. Canada doesn't allow meat products or foods made with them by mail, which is why Jiffy mix and the coney kit stay in the US.

Will the cans and jars make it? Yes. Cans ride upright in the shred, glass gets bubble wrap, and anything that leaks gets its own bag. If something arrives broken, email us and we replace it.

Can I pick what goes in? Yes. Build your own from the same shelf: a half box with 4 picks for $49 or a full box with 8 picks for $89.

Do you do corporate orders? Yes. The Woodward is built for clients, closings and new hires, with your logo on the card and pricing for 5 to 1,000 boxes.

Is everything really made in Michigan? Everything edible in the box is made by a Michigan company. The card and the box are ours.
